1. Independent Reading -- We will read for about ten minutes.

The district is having all 10th
grade students participate in the Junior Achievement Program. Point
Loma High School will visit the JA site from October 5 – 12. There are
prep classes for students
beforehand and we need to coordinate.
2. Wall Street Journal -- Read the paper each day. Article summaries will be turned in each Friday. You have already satisfied the assignment for this week. I will pass out new sheets on Monday.
3. "The Interlopers" -- You will be reading this story with a partner. Just as you have done with reading "The Sniper," you will pause after each paragraph and respond to the reading. Your responses will be recorded on your copy of the story next to the paragraph. In other words, you are annotating as you read. Underline words and sentences and make notes. Annotate especially for the significance of descriptive details concerning setting.
Homework: 1. Finish reading "The Interlopers," annotating as you go along. Complete the handout, noting 10 details with an explanation. 2. Independent reading
