1. Independent Reading --  Please read for 10 minutes

2. "The Gift of the Magi" -- You have read this story and have annotated it for figurative language, symbolism, and irony. You also have written three open-ended questions for discussion.  Your questions would not have a definite answer but would generate discussion.  We will discuss the story.
