Good Morning!

1.  Independent Reading -- Please read quietly for 10 minutes. 
    NOTE:  The third book review for this semester will be an ORAL
   REVIEW of the book.  We will begin on Tuesday, January 24th  
   and  finish on the day of the final (Period 1 will be on January 
   25th  and Period 5 will be on January 27th).  We will start on 
   Tuesday so we will be sure to finish on finals day. 

2.  Stephen's Speech -- We will finish this speech today. As we read, I will pause for you to reflect on each part.  You will write your reflection in the margin next to the part. That is what I will be checking for completeness when you turn your copy in.

2. Unit on Speeches --  Yesterday we did read the first speech for this unit.  It was Aston Kutcher's acceptance speech of the Teen Choice Award.  Let's review the handout I asked you to complete before passing in.  After the last part, please explain what part caught your attention the most.

Essay on Twelve Angry Men -- I would like to give you today to finish your essay.  I know that it might be difficult to return your thinking to this play given the time that has elapsed since you worked on it -- difficult but not impossible.  Please wrap this essay up today.  If you can't finish in class, finish at home if possible.  I would like to get started on a new unit of study tomorrow that hopefully we will finish before the end of the semester.
