 I hope that you had a great weekend!

Looks like I need to resume reminding students to put electronic devices entirely away during class time.  I do not want to see them whatsoever while you are in class.  The exception is when I specifically give you permission to use your phone for accessing the internet for a class-related assignment.

 

1.  Independent Reading -- I asked that you have your new independent reading book starting today for the second six week grading period.

 

2. "John Kerry: ISIS Is Carrying Out 'Genocide"" -- you read this article online on Friday and responded to it.  I will collect the assignment today.

 

3.  Background to Elie Wiesel and his memoir (two handouts)

 

4.  Preface and Foreword to Night -- we will read this together and you will review the reading by responding to questions. (handout).

 

Homework: Independent reading
