Twelve Angry Men

Good Morning!
Please get your assigned netbook when you arrive

NOTE:  Bring canned goods, and you will receive extra credit.  I do not normally give extra credit for non-academic reasons, but I am making an exception in this case!

1.  Independent Reading -- Please read your independent reading book for 10 minutes. Remember that one of your independent reading books this semester must be from the recommended list.

2.  Twelve Angry Men -- Review of Act Three questions, and I will collect.  Write complete responses.

3.  Final Assignment -- There will be a final writing assignment (handout). The essay will be an examination of character. We will work on this next week.  For today, please create a new document and name it Period __ Character Essay (TAM) and IMMEDIATELY share it with me (abaltrushes@gmail.com).

Good Morning!

2.   Twelve Angry Men, Act Three -- We will begin Act Three today (handout for Act Three questions).  

NOTE:  Upon completion of the play there will be an objective test and a written response to the play.

1.  Independent Reading -- Please read your independent reading book for 10 minutes.
 
2. "On The Pulse of Morning" -- Yesterday you read and responded to this poem.  The reason why I chose this poem was because of its relevancy to us today.  We will discuss the poem, and I will collect both handouts.  
 
3.  Twelve Angry Men -- You have completed questions to Act Two.  We will review, and I will collect.

Twelve Angry Men, Act Two

Good Morning!

NOTE:  We will begin independent reading next week with the first day of the third six weeks.  If you have not selected a book from the recommended list yet, you need to do so for this final six weeks.  There is a link to this annotated list here on my blog under "Important Links."  

1.  Twelve Angry Men -- Today we will respond to questions on Act Two.  We will resume with Act Three on TUESDAY.  I will not be here on Monday and will leave another assignment for you to complete on that day. ALSO, please have your independent reading on Monday which is the first day of the final six weeks.

2. NOTE:  You will receive extra credit for bringing canned food for the food drive.  I do not normally give extra credit for something that is non-academic, but in this case I am making an exception so we can fill the box!

HOMEWORK:  Make your selection of an independent reading book for the final six weeks.

1.  Twelve Angry Men -- We are starting this play today.  I have given you 4 handouts.  Please keep them filed in your notebook as we read the play.

2.  Reading the play -- We will act out this play.  Volunteers for the parts will receive extra credit.  I will read the narration (stage directions).

HOMEWORK:  Decide on an independent reading book for the final six weeks.  We will begin next Monday.

Twelve Angry Men

Good Morning!

NOTE:  We will begin independent reading next week with the first day of the third six weeks.  If you have not selected a book from the recommended list yet, you need to do so for this final six weeks.  There is a link to this annotated list here on my blog under "Important Links."   Your book review for this second six weeks was due by midnite last night.

1.  Twelve Angry Men -- We are starting this play today.  I will be giving you 4 handouts.  Please keep them filed in your notebook as we read the play. Attached to the Character Chart handout are two sheets, one for pre-reading responses and the other to record vocabulary for each act of the play.

2.  Reading the play -- We will act out this play.  Volunteers for the parts will receive extra credit.  We will take a few moments to look at the descriptions of the twelve jurors. Before we begin, you will record vocabulary and respond to a pre-reading question. 

HOMEWORK:  Decide on an independent reading book for the final six weeks.  We will begin next Monday.
