Oedipus the King

Good Morning!
Please put your cell phones completely out of sight for the FULL duration of the class. Please do not have me remind you of this.  When the bell rings, I should not see your cell phone out.  Please put it completely away.

"Insolence breeds the tyrant . . . ."
"If a man walks with haughtiness of hand or word and gives no heed to Justice and the shrines of Gods despises -- may an evil doom smite him for his ill-starred pride of heart!"

TEXTBOOKS --  Please get your text when you arrive to class.

NOTE:  While we were reading Night, I decided that I would suspend the independent reading requirement so that you would concentrate on reading Night.  For the last grading period, we are resuming independent reading.  This week make a selection.

Oedipus the King -- Part II, p. 516.  Third handout to Part II.

NOTE:  Test on Oedipus next week-- multiple choice test.
