"The Sniper"

1.  Independent Reading -- The library opens tomorrow.  If you have not made a selection, select something from our school library.  We will begin required independent reading on Monday.  I will give you some time at the beginning of class for reading, so be prepared with your book.

2.  "The Sniper" -- before we begin with one of this unit's narrative texts, we are going to practice some of the literary terms that we reviewed on Monday by reading this story by O'Flaherty.  Quietly read the story and ANNOTATE for imagery, significant details, etc. Respond to the questions on the handout.  Compare your responses with a partner, especially about the story's theme.  We will then review as a class.
